week six: underground comics
For this week's reading, it is underground comics, they are small press or self-published comic books that are often socially relevant or satirical in nature. They differ from mainstream comics in depicting content forbidden to mainstream publications by the Comics Code Authority, including explicit drug use, sexuality, and violence. I think I like them overall for now, but I might not like them when I was a kid, because I might not be understood all of them also they will not give the kids the good point of view to the world, it is not that good for the growth of the kids that’s for sure. The point of view of these underground comics is for adults, and also some adults probably don’t even like them because of the content of it. Some of them are about the story of gay, or sexual stuff, and some of them have strong racist, they will draw the black people looks really weird or the Asians which little small eyes. Also because of the Audience of these comic are probably not that much, and the artist who creates them were not well trained, the art of those comic is not that nice. So these kinds of comics are more about the story content. If the story is attractive to me then I think I probably gonna like it a lot as spent time on it to relax for some time, but if the story is not, then the one will not attract to me at all because the art is not that good and it will be kind of a waste of time to read. It really all depends on the story but not anything else for me.
I read the Air Pirates Funnies, it is a comic that makes Disney really mad about. And that is also the reason why I choose this one to read, just wanna see what is going on in here and why or what made Disney mad. So after I read it, there were a lot of things that I think are interesting such as in the silly sympathies the bug is the title said he has not to touch the woman in 14 years, and at the beginning of the story, it seems like he loses his job because of the touches his boss's woman and gets fired, after that there was a lot of sex scenes and the bug jerk off himself. It was kind of fun for me to read this kind of thing. Before it, I do not really even know this is a thing that exists in the world and could print out to give people to read. Because in China, even watch porn is illegal, I was never even heard about this kind of thing before. But obviously, it is not the kind of book that made for children, it is such a dirty word in the books, but this is the thing that makes me think this book is so real, the altitude of the world. This is what the normal comics for kids can not bring to the readers, those comics for kids just talks about how beautiful the world is, the bad guy always loses, the good guy always wins the game, heroic is what it is. But the real world is not like that, it is full of bad guy out there and doing the thing what shows in this underground comics, and that is the reason why I think these kinds of underground comic need and must exist, it just shows people of the dark side of the world, it opens the horizon for the reader, tells readers that the world has its dark side and the bad guy not always lose the game or get punished, and this point, in my opinion, is good for people to read and get benefits from it. It just reminds me what my dad told me when I was a kid, he told me that when I go to school, in whatever history or politic class, just listen to it as a story, never think it is true because of government won't let you know what is the truth and keep your mind clean. And that influence me so much, even now I look the history as the hi.stroy, keep my mind out of the story and view things more objectively. Of cause, the world has its beautiful side, but I think it is really important that to know there was also a dark side of the world still exists. And I think this is my reason why that I think these kinds of underground comics should exist and published for more people to read it even you might not like it.
